Sorry it's been a bit longer than I had hoped since I posted. I've had some travel for work that took more energy than I thought it would. I'll post a picture at the bottom!
Just when I finally thought I was finished with washcloths, a reason popped up to make just one more. I've started playing along with the Harry Potter Knit/Crochet House Cup on Ravelry and the prompts for one of the July classes was a challenge to go back to our knitting roots. My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was around 7 or 8 years old. She taught me how to make a very basic washcloth. Later in life, a gift she gave to all of her grandchildren was a cookbook with her favorite family recipes in it, and mine also contained a pattern for the washcloth. It was meant to be and I knitted on up.
It's worked on the bias and comes together quite quickly.
My yarn choice is a bit unorthodox for a washcloth, but this this is more of a symbolic object, I'm good with it. This was knit in Malabrigo Silky Merino in the Raspberry colorway.
Stash enhancement! Though this won't last long. My LYS started carrying Western Sky Knits probably two months ago. They got a shipment in on the day that just happens to be my normal knit night. At the same time, another knitter brought in a gorgeous shawl she had just finished. Needless to say, I was inspired, and yarn was purchased. More details to come later, but I'm excited to get started!
Recently, my work travels took me to Plymouth, MA. We had a great time, but the thing Plymouth is known for, Plymouth Rock, is really a rather anti-climatic sight. It's a rock. In a hole. With a monument built over it. I'm glad I went to see the rock, but don't expect it to fill a travel day.
