Radiance Shawl is Complete!
It turned out quite well. This is only the third or fourth project I've blocked and was a bit nervous with pinning it out wet. I pinned it out at night and let it air out with a fan overnight. It was still a bit damp in the morning, but after having the fan on it all day while I was at work it was completely dry. The shape held quite nicely after the pins came out. The tips of the leaves curl up a bit, which is a bit of a bug, but fighting it is a losing battle.
The center stitch blocked out quite nicely. Though the photo does show one misstep in the blocking process I overlooked until it was completely dry. The right side it not stretched as far as the left. It's not terribly obvious when wearing the shawl, but when you fold it in half down the center stitch something is definitely off. Lesson learned - use a measuring tape next time.
The Snowflake Scarf Begins!
This scarf will be for my younger sister who has a flare for bright colors. As I began this project I hit a few bumps in the road and learned a few lessons. This is also my first attempt at fair isle knitting. As with almost all of the works I do, the first thing I did was tweak the pattern a bit. My workstation while I'm working on projects can bit a crowded during the beginning phases of pattern alteration.
After I got things altered the way I thought would work out well, I began working. The colors came together beautifully, the fabric on the other hand had some challenges. As you can see in the photo, I ended up with a curling problem. It got progressively worse as I continued with the project.
I ended up ripping out the project to start over again. But only after a few more alterations to the pattern. Stay tuned for progress on Snowflake Scarf attempt 2 coming soon!
